Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Basic Techniques
By Ze Marcello
Shot in Brazil!
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a Brazilian Martial Art, a kind of Jiu-Jitsu that is practiced in Brazil, as it was imported by Mitsuyo Maéda (1879-1941) and later developed by the Gracie family.
It’s a young martial art and is still evolving. It stems from Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is ground wrestling that can be practiced with or without a kimono.
Each complete technique ends with either a choke or a dislocation (nape, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle) and with no joint twisting.
Contrary to most martial arts that favour standing fight with fist and feet strikes, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu focuses on ground fight, which is a most technical realm in which size matters much less.
Experience shows that street fighting between two opponents often ends on the ground.
Languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese
Running Time: 70 Minutes
